The age threshold is the minimum age a visitor must prove to pass verification. Veriox enforces whatever threshold you set — it is your responsibility to ensure it meets your legal obligations. The threshold must be a whole number between 18 and 99.

Common thresholds

Use caseThreshold
Alcohol, tobacco, adult content (UK/EU)18
Alcohol (US)21
Gambling (UK)18
Knife sales (UK)18

Setting your threshold in the portal

Go to your worker in portal.veriox.ioConfigurationAge Threshold and enter the minimum age. Save and the change takes effect immediately for new verifications.
Visitors who already have a valid session cookie will not be re-verified until their session expires, even if you change the threshold.

Jurisdiction guidance

Age verification requirements vary by jurisdiction and product type. Consult your legal counsel to confirm the correct threshold for your specific use case.

For developers — Wrangler CLI

If you deployed via Wrangler, the threshold is set as an environment variable in wrangler.toml:
[vars]
VERIOX_AGE_THRESHOLD = "18"
After changing this value, redeploy with wrangler deploy for it to take effect.
